On the most beautiful day in February Rayna said I do to Tim! Their ceremony was in the beautiful Wycliffe Presbyterian Church and their reception held at the VB Resort Conference center in the sunset room. Perfect!

after working with Brad Bennett of Shaking Hands Production I am happy to have a videographer who I can proudly refer, knowing he will deliver quality, with a contemporary feel. Check out his highlights video from Rayna and Tim’s day

Yay! It’s the beginning of the engagement sessions season, so that means so much fun is to be had by me & by my couples of course. Finding good days is tricky but we totally got lucky for this session in Norfolk, near the Chrylser Museum of Art and had a sunny day, too sunny at times, but I can live with that over the snow any day. Kristin and Owen were so cute together and Owen was a great sport!!

When Mike gave me my first dslr 3 years ago I did what any mother with a cool new camera would do, take pictures of my kids. I took Amanda out for a senior portraits session and we found this abandoned house on West Neck. So sad they’ve since torn it down because it was with this very picture of Amanda sitting on those steps that something clicked inside me and made me think I might have some talent. No doubt Amanda is stunning, but there was something very “magazine” feeling about this that made me feel like I could do this for a living. These days this picture probably would not make the cut because it’s not sharp but wow at the time I loved it..it’s a sentimental thing

fast forward 3 years and I’ve got another excuse to take pictures of my daughter Amanda, she’s turning 20 today. We went out to Oceana Blvd which was Amanda’s choice…she wanted to be deep in the woods and this is where I’ve grown as a photographer, I thought only about the light. If we would have gone in the woods we wouldn’t have had the pretty light we did in the open field and in the memorial, so we froze for a little while and had this very cute birthday shoot.

Happy Birthday Amanda, I’m so very proud of the woman you’ve become.

I thought I’d share a few before and after photos from a recent portfolio shoot. I do believe photoshop is a strong skill set for me. I’m sharing the before pictures, images straight out of the camera and so they might look a little drab, but that’s just the way they come out (sometimes) This young girl is beautiful and has a very unique look to her. She is a natural beauty without my touching up, but I polished up her look as a way to demonstrate what I can do.

Snow Snow Snow…| Virginia Beach Photographer

The last time it snowed like this, or close to this much was in February of 1996. I remember it well. Mike had just bought his first Jeep and the snow couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. There was illegal sledding on Mount Trashmore and doughnuts in the Farm Fresh’s empty parking lot. Times have certainly changed, we still have a jeep but this time we set out with a purpose. To take photos of all the snow. And yes it was still snowing while we were out…I think that’s what made it so much more fun.

Here is Kirsten and Cameron out and about in Waterside. This was one of those cold days a few weeks ago but because it was sunny and we were approaching the deadline for Cam to leave we had to suck it up and get the shoot done. The whole thing worked out beautifully and I can’t wait for their wedding in California!!

Engagement Portraits | Virginia Beach, VA

One of the best parts about being a wedding photographer is the engagement session. It’s always great to just run around with a couple getting to know them and watching them interact. Talk about a cute couple…they were so affectionate that it was really easy taking tons of fantastic photos of them…So much fun, even out in 32 degree weather, we totally worked it out.
