I love this family so much and in May of 2009 I got to shoot their wedding and what a turning point in my career!! Here they are looking amazing as always…I LOVE her belly! Family photography is not something I do often but evenings like tonight are incredibly special to me….thank you to all my amazing clients!!!

One of the fun ways I get to give back to my community is by going to the pier for homecomings. Sometimes I’m contacted by people by wives who find me online via Op Love, but Andi Grant Photography clients and my friends get first dibs on my being out there with them. (it’s free to have me there-no strings) Holly is part of my church family at Forefront Church. Ok, if you know me you know I attend Freedom Fellowship but for 11 years I was at Forefront and I still totally support their vision and love how they are a church for people who don’t like church. Jason Bedell is there teaching people how to have a relationship with God and how to love others. If you don’t have a church and are thinking about finding one for the new year go over to their new website to learn more. Oops, I got sidetracked.
Holly invited me to the pier for Mark’s homecoming on December 8th. He was out on the USS Fort McHenry. Here are a few of their first hug/kiss.

Holly scheduled a family session for shortly after his homecoming and here are the super cute images from that session.

Holly did a fantastic job choosing their clothes…don’t they look like they belong in a catalog?

I had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful family session a couple of weeks ago. Felicia is known for her time on American Idol. I love her as my worship leader at Freedom Fellowship. Her father is Pastor Rick, the wonderful leader and teacher of the church. Each week he shares a message that makes me really think. When I leave I feel closer to God and his messages help me evaluate my life and has me striving for Godliness. What more could you ask for. My daughter Lizzie had been attending Freedom for about 3 years….my biggest regret is that I didn’t head over there right away with her. Oh well, no crying over spilled milk right? I will invite any of my blog readers, if you aren’t at a good Bible teaching church come visit Freedom Fellowship. It is not a church trying to be cool, and yet they are incredibly relevant. Pastor Rick will have you laughing and it wont seem at all contrived. He is genuine and his family is there by his side, in these pictures you’ll also see his beautiful wife Diana. I’d heard him speak about his wife in a very loving way but seeing them from behind my lens was crazy, they are so affectionate with each other – after 28 years they are so clearly madly in love with each other. What an inspiration. You’ll also see his son Preston and his wife Lindsey. Preston heads up the youth ministry and Lindsey is a gifted wedding planner, thinking about using a wedding planner? You should check out her work or go hire her at Simply Perfect Events. Felicia’s precious little man Malachi is featured as well…what a cutie…how bout he told me “I love you too” and I melted. His father Loren is Felicia’s husband and also a very talented musician. Let me just mention he does a great job with a great worship team at Freedom Fellowship….Ok I’ve gone on and on, sorry, it’s because I haven’t been this excited about a family, my new family in a long long while….So now I’ll share some great photos….

but wait there is more this video with all their pictures is Felicia’s original song she recently recorded. I don’t think it fits perfectly with the vibe of this session but it’s my favorite of her songs so I really wanted to make a video with it.

When if comes to good customer service I think I’m really on the ball…I won this family shoot because I am quick with my Blackberry and even on the 4th of July, the morning before a wedding I responded to this client inquiry and scheduled this session. Good customer service really paid off and I had the pleasure of working with this great family.

Karen and Sean are very special friends of mine, we go way back and know each other’s deepest darkest secrets, maybe. They were the highlight in our gel groups over the years, as we were gel family for about 6 years maybe more. Wow, I love them so much. I don’t know their children as well as I would like. I heard many stories about them, and my girls know them well but I don’t…I need to change that. I can say this…they are incredibly photogenic

I’ve know Gene for about 10 years now, and the one word that comes to mind when you think of him is character, he is a character that’s for sure, but he also is a man of fine character, an example to everyone in his life and even when years go by with little contact I know that I could call on Genalin and Gene for anything and they would be there for me. How cool is that? I love that I was the one chosen to do their family portraits. I don’t take being hired for granted. I know there are tons of photographers in Virginia Beach and I never expect a friend to hire me just because they are my friends. It’s when they hire me because they like my work that makes me feel so very good inside. Thank you for this super fun photo shoot!
