I haven’t been posting much, and it’s not that I haven’t been working, I’ve been doing plenty of that. I had a very successful boudoir weekend at the Westin a few weeks back. Well, I’ve been doing a ton of editing for that along with a wedding that I didn’t blog for secret squirrel issues.
I’ve also been working on getting my new website done. It’s not the super cool website that I will get in the not so distant future, but it’s a much better store front for Andi Grant Photography than my previous website. I’ll still be using Smugmug for printing, and setting up all my clients private galleries. The new site is meant as a simple, easy to explore portfolio, it has a contact form and the pricing is easy to find. The new site will work out great.
I’ve been working at getting all of the administrative things for the business in order. Mike has been a great help with this. We’ve logged so many hours with vendors and Apple. I’m still working full time for the city, it hasn’t been an easy year where that is concerned. I have to thank my family for being patient with me and supporting me as my photography business quickly became a full time job. Lord willing I’ll be leaving my city job May 1st and I’ll get to do even more photography – I’m excited about that. For starters I’ll be doing more children’s photography. I wasn’t sure if I was going to pursue children photography because while most of my friends know I adore children, I wasn’t sure if I had the patience to work with the little ones. Then I go and take a beautiful shot of a little girl and I realize it’s soooo worth it, not to mention I’m pretty good at it, so why not get more involved in that arena. If you have a little girl or boy and want a mini session – please let me know – I’ve got some very cool deals for those little ones.
My intimate sessions have been the fastest growing part of my business and its also some of the most rewarding. After the sessions I get to hear from the ladies how great they felt when they left the session, how it was so much fun, and then they see their pictures and get even more excited to give their special gift to their husbands and oh yea, their husbands are often speechless. Doing this for those husbands who are deployed – well, it’s like I am part of the USO – except I don’t leave Virginia Beach.
I did get the permission from a few of the women to add their photos to my portfolio, here are a few from those intimate sessions.

The next boudoir dates are February 27th & 28th
I will be blogging more sneak peaks, and I’ll be better about updating it more regularly again.
I’m going to Vegas next week for WPPI and I am soooo excited. It’s a convention for Wedding and Portrait photographers with a giant trade show and classes all week long. I hope to learn lots, to meet a bunch of the photographers that I follow online, and maybe win a poker tournament while I’m at it
I’ll make sure to blog some silliness from there.
Come back often for much more in 2009 and thank you so much to all of my big supporters – your encouragement means everything to me.
